By Horace Palacio: San Ignacio Town witnessed a spectacular coronation ceremony on Monday, September 25, where Reyna Choj was crowned Miss Earth Belize 2023.
Reyna Choj, 21, a passionate wildlife advocate, currently juggles her advocacy work with her academic pursuits as she’s studying biology at the University of Belize. This dedication and passion for the environment made her an instant favorite and an embodiment of what the Miss Earth pageant stands for.
The event was further illuminated with the presence of former Miss Earth, Destiny Wagner, who also hails from Belize. Destiny took to her social media to extend her wishes to the new queen, stating, “Wishing Reyna the best of luck as she embarks on her journey to Vietnam this year.”
Reyna will be Belize’s torchbearer on the international stage for Miss Earth 2023, scheduled to take place in Vietnam this December. She will be competing against delegates from across the globe, each one showcasing their unique approach to environmental advocacy.
The 21-year-old succeeds Simone Sleeuw, who represented Belize in the Miss Earth 2022 pageant held last November in the Philippines. Belize has always showcased formidable contenders in the pageant, and with Reyna’s crowning, expectations and hopes are high for this year’s edition.
The journey to the 23rd Miss Earth pageant promises to be exhilarating. As the world gears up to witness the amalgamation of beauty, brains, and environmental advocacy on one platform, Belize stands tall and proud, cheering for Reyna Choj.
