Hard Rock Boyz to defend Sprite-Digi tournament championship versus Port Loyola Titans in final

By Aaron Humes: After 24 weeks, the final four of the William Dawson Sprite-Digi Youth Basketball Tournament is set.

On October 21 at the Belize Civic Center, Unruly Boyz open versus Third World Ballers for third place, while the championship game sees defending champions Hard Rock Boyz face Port Loyola Titans.

On Saturday, October 14, the semifinals at the Wilton Cumberbatch Court off Fabers Road saw Hard Rock beat Third World 59-40, while Port Loyola needed overtime to tame Unruly Boyz, 90-77.

Entrance is free and as organizer Douglas Hyde says, “it takes a lot of humility, respect, appreciation, purpose, understanding, and teamwork, to be consistent for 24 weeks of hard, dedicated, and successful work.

The tournament is sponsored by Sprite and Digi along with St George’s Caye Resort, Social Security Board, Rotary Club, ILS Phoenix Foundation, and Dolphin Productions and managed by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Belize Police Department, Leadership Intervention Unit, Ministry of Youth Sports and Transport among others.
