Bladen 11 case adjourned in drug plane landing trial

By Breaking Belize News Staff: The Bladen 11, the group of police officers and Mennonites charged for facilitating a drug plane landing in 2021, saw their case adjourned today for a number of reasons.

The men; Armando Martinez; Moises Adan Perez; Heainrich Redcop; Johan Wall; Freddy Hongora; interdicted police officers, Delwin Casimiro; Nelson Middleton and George Ferguson, along with Corporal Elmer Nah, who is on remand for a triple murder in Belmopan which occurred late 2022; and Adonis Campos and Juan Esparza Sanchez all appeared in court today.

They are all charged for one count of conspiracy to abet the crime of importation of a controlled drug; conspiracy to land a plane at an unlicensed airdrome and two counts each of possession with intent to supply.

Additional charged will be brought against Ferguson and case management in that matter has not been held as yet. There also was a clash in the availability of attorneys representing a number of the accused men. And the prosecutor raised the issue of the venue being too small to accommodate the trial involving all 11 men.

The case has been adjourned for January 29, 2024.
