‘Yankee’ charged for stealing Olay body wash and Nike slippers from U-Mall

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Anthony “Yankee” Grady, 61, of Ladyville was fined a little over $200 in court after pleading guilty to theft, after stealing an Olay body wash and a pair of Nike slippers from U-Mall supermarket in Ladyville.

Grady appeared in court unrepresented today and was read a single count of theft. For his guilty plea, Grady was fined $200 plus $5 cost of court. He has until December 29 to pay or face 2 months in jail.

The store’s owner reported to police that on November 1, he was sitting in the camera room and noticed a man taking some items from the store and putting them into his pants. Police reviewed the footage and identified Grady. When police visited his home, he returned the Olay body spray, which cost $17.95, and the pair of slippers, which cost $17.95.
