No Premier League of Belize games Saturday night; PLB postpones Altitude-Progresso, Police Benque-Verdes matches

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Premier League of Belize has postponed both 2023-2024 Opening Season Week 12 matches scheduled for Saturday night.

First, the PLB postponed the Police Benque (Club Deportivo Benque) and Verdes match scheduled for 7:30 at the Edmund Marshalleck Stadium in Benque Viejo del Carmen due to rain and the wet condition of the facility. Then, the PLB went ahead with the postponement of the Altitude vs Progresso game that was to be played at the Michael Ashcroft Stadium in Independence at 7:30 pm as well.

With that, Altitude has had three postponements in a week. Last Saturday’s match against the Belmopan Bandits was called off due to rain and wet conditions of the pitch. The game was rescheduled for Wednesday, November 1, but conditions didn’t improve, and the match was called off again. And today, the facility is again in a similar condition.

The PLB will decide when the three back matches will be played.

PLB General Manager Wilhelm Miguel said on Friday that the League would be monitoring the present weather affecting the country and would decide by Saturday at midday if the games would be played to avoid clubs undergoing unnecessary expenses.

Now, the PLB will continue monitoring the weather as two more games are scheduled to play on Sunday, November 5. Wagiya should host the Belmopan Bandits at the Carl Ramos Stadium in Dangriga, while Port Loyola are play against Benque Viejo United at the Marion Jones Sporting Complex in Belize City. Both games are scheduled for 4:00 pm.
