By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Altitude and Progresso didn’t help themselves very much with the 1-1 draw they produced on Thursday night at the Michael Ashcroft Stadium in Independence in the Premier League of Belize’s (PLB) 2023-24 Opening Season.
Both had the opportunity to move up in the standings and they did, but just by one point. That, however, wasn’t what they were looking for as they wanted three points to get closer to Verdes, who won and moved up to 25 points.
Whichever way, Progresso are better off than Altitude as they have practically qualified to playoffs. Altitude, who have three games remaining because of a back match against the Bandits, have 16 points and are in fifth place. A victory last night would have put them in a more comfortable position.

And what’s worse, they had to come from behind to garner the draw as Progresso took the lead when Alwin Zelaya opened the score in the 64th minute. But Altitude reacted immediately and a minute later captain Dellon Torres tied it at 1-1.
Altitude are hopeful that with the three games remaining they can surpass fourth place Benque United who have them out by three right now.
