UPDATE: Traffic bumper-to-bumper on both major highways due to Haulover Bridge being temporarily out of service

By Aaron Humes: In a developing situation, the Haulover Bridge is temporarily out of service.

Motorists who want to enter Belize City limits are advised to utilize the John Smith Link Road, and those who are leaving City limits are advised to utilize the George Price Highway, according to a statement from the Belize Police Department.

Eyewitness reports say that the Philip Goldson from the San Cas Roundabout to Brodies Northern Highway is backed up and traffic is being diverted through the Chetumal/Lake Independence Boulevard to the George Price Highway.

However, the George Price route is also currently backed up, with traffic moving very slowly, an estimated two miles per hour.

Motorists are being asked to bear patience while matters are being sorted out and we will keep you informed.
