Prime Minister at Christmas: “A time for reflection, gratitude, and togetherness”

By Aaron Humes: Prime Minister John Briceño, in his annual Christmas message, has wished Belizeans peace, happiness, and love, urging all to use the season to reflect on the good that exists across the world.

“It is a time to appreciate the blessings we have and to cherish the moments shared with family and friends. May this Christmas bring you peace, happiness, and an abundance of love. As we celebrate in our Belizean style, may the twinkling lights remind us of the hope and goodness that exists in the world,” he stated in the three-minute pre-recorded message released online.

The Prime Minister also reminded that Christmas is a time to be grateful for our blessings, including the food we may take for granted. It is also important for us to assist those who are less fortunate. This, he says, is the true meaning of Christmas: “May the rice and beans, the ham, turkey, and the treats remind us of how truly blessed we are. Also, let us remember those who won’t have the less fortunate and extend a helping hand to those in need. As I celebrate with my own family, I too am thankful, especially for living in a country where we value treasures of the spirit, such as friendship and kindness. My hope, then, is for every Belizean home to be filled with joy, with love, and with laughter. May the music bring you harmony. And the aroma of [freshly] baked cakes, ham, and the trimmings of the Christmas meal fill your kitchen with warmth and delight. On this magical Christmas day, may your wishes come true and your heart be filled with the magic of the season.”
