Ministry of Agriculture hosts Grains Meeting to discuss Production with the Menonite Communities

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On January 17, 2024, leaders from 6 Mennonite communities convened at Nueland, Corozal District, for a grains meeting.

Also in attendance was Chief Agriculture Officer Dr. Pascual and representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture.

The meeting was centered on the production, forecasting, stock reports, and export of various grain commodities.

The meeting provided a collaborative platform for Mennonite community leaders to share insights, discuss challenges, and explore opportunities related to the grains sector.

 Key topics included comprehensive assessments of production, strategic forecasting to meet demand, and discussions on the availability of commodities in stock.

Other matters discussed were related to the export of grain commodities to CARICOM countries.

The Ministry noted that the exchange of ideas and expertise during the meeting is expected to contribute to informed decision-making, fostering a more robust and sustainable grains industry within the region.
