By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Belize Elite Basketball League features three games this weekend in Belize City, Dangriga , and Belmopan.
Defending champions Benny’s Belize Hurricanes are going for their second win when they take on the Orange Walk Running Rebels at Belize City Civic Center on Friday night. The Hurricanes are hoping to ‘school’ the Running Rebels, but the Orange Walk side are no run-over squad. While the Hurricanes beat the San Pedro Tiger Sharks on opening night two weeks ago, the Orange Walk Running Rebels did likewise last week when they thumped the EZ Investments Griga Dream Ballers.
Then on Saturday night, the Griga Dream Ballers are hosting the Western Ballaz in a clash that features two teams that lost their opening games. Both are eager to record a win when they meet at the Russell ‘Chiste’ Garcia Auditorium in Dangriga.
The third match of the weekend gets played in Belmopan on Saturday night. The homestanding Belmopan Trojans will face the Belize City Defenders. Both teams won their opening games last week; the Trojans over the Western Ballers in San Ignacio while the Defenders beat the Tiger Sharks in Belize City.
All games tip off at 9:00 pm.
