National Commission for Families and Children honors Nurse Casilda Bowman with Women’s Month Award

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The National Commission for Families and Children (NCFC) is honoring Casilda Bowman with the Women’s Month Award.

Bowman’s journey as a nurse began with a deep-seated desire to make a positive impact in the lives of others.

“Her commitment to compassionate care has been evident in every step of her career, where she has honed her skills as a Practical Nurse and later as a Registered Nurse. As an Assistant Unit Manager, she embraced her passion for leadership, mentoring and guiding a new generation of nurses to uphold the values of empathy and integrity in patient care,” the NCFC noted.

As the Unit Manager at the Accident & Emergency Department at Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital Authority (KHMHA), Nurse Bowman designed and implemented innovative processes that enabled efficient patient care, even amidst the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2023, she embarked on a new chapter as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in the central health region, where she combines her clinical expertise with a deep understanding of mental health dynamics, guiding individuals through their darkest hours and advocating for systemic change.

“Nurse Bowman’s journey is a testament to the transformative power of nursing, fueled by empathy and guided by integrity. She views nursing as a profound privilege and responsibility, embodying the qualities of a beacon of hope, a pillar of strength, and a catalyst for healing,” NCFC added.

As Nurse Bowman continues to serve Belize, she remains committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and compassion, knowing that only through God’s power and His continuous renewal of strength can she find the purpose, resolve, and unwavering commitment to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
