By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Ladyville man is out on bail after spending a night in the Belize Central Prison on remand, charged for allegedly breaking in through his mother-in-law’s window to look for his wife.

Marvis Espinosa, 38, appeared unrepresented in court on Monday and was read a single count of damage to property. He pleaded not guilty to the charge and was offered bail which he could not meet in time and was sent to jail on remand for the night until he could post bail on Tuesday. He is due back in court on June 7.

According to the police reports, Espinosa’s wife stayed at her mother’s house on April 12, following an argument with him. Later that night, Espinosa allegedly started banging on the windows loudly and attempting to break it to get in. The window was valued at $300. Espinosa’s mother-in-law told police it caused the women to fear for their lives, alarming them enough to press charges.
