U.S. Embassy and Financial Intelligence Unit host training on Financial Investigative Techniques

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Recently, the U.S. Embassy in Belize partnered with Belize’s Financial Intelligence Unit and made way for the Internal Revenue Service to teach a multi-day training on financial investigative techniques.

The training benefitted 35 government officials from various agencies involved in investigating and prosecuting financial crimes.

The U.S. Embassy expressed continued commitment to supporting Belize as it protects businesses and citizens from financial crimes.

The training will assist the Government of Belize improve interagency financial investigations by identifying, investigating, and disrupting transnational criminal organizations by targeting illicit financing activities.
