As expected, the Netherlands defeated Qatar 2-0 to top Group B with seven points from two wins and a draw and qualify to the Round of 16.

Cody Gakpo scored for the Netherlands in the 26^th minute putting them ahead 1-0 over Qatar at the Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor in front of 66,784 fans.

Frenkie de Jong increased the Dutch lead in the 49^th minute for a 2-0 win.

For hosts Qatar, their World Cup was dismal ending in three consecutive losses failing to gain a point.

The Netherlands move on along with Senegal who beat Ecuador 2-1.
