Man fined over $100 for having 2.5 grams of marijuana over the legal limit

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Belize City man was fined in court this week after he was found to have 2.5 grams more than he could legally carry.

Leonard Myers appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Monday charged with a single count of possession of controlled drugs in relation to 12.5 grams of marijuana found on him during a police search.

For his early pay, the court fined him $100 plus $5 cost of court which he must by May 31 or spend a month in prison.

Police say they found him with the marijuana on his person on April 20.
