BBN Staff:On Friday, April 13, an educational presentation on Disaster Management was made to upper division students at the Pancotto Primary School in the village of Sand Hill, Belize district.

The presentation focused on the role and responsibilities of the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) and what members of the public can do to assist, and to preserve their own life and property, that of their family and other members of their community in the face of potential disaster.

At the end of the presentation, students were quizzed on what they had learnt, and prizes were awarded to those who answered correctly.

The presentation was led by NEMO Belize District (Rural) Coordinator Alphius Gillett, and it was organized through the efforts of school principal, Anna Reyes, and teacher, Tanya Sutherland.

This Friday, a presentation will be made to the students of Biscayne Government Primary School, which will focus on Basic First Aid Training and Tsunami Preparedness.

These activities are part of NEMO’s increased Public Education Program on Emergency and Disaster Management.
