Orange Walk man killed by passenger

BBN Staff: Orange Walk police are investigating a murder that occurred on Tuesday night.

Alberto Vargas Jr.,21, was shot dead in a vehicle just after 8.

According to police reports, Vargas was in the front passenger seat of a green ford escape driven at the time by Jose Medina.

Medina had just picked up a passenger who sat immediately behind Vargas in the vehicle.

The vehicle was parked on the Belize Corozal road when Medina, the driver stopped to purchase food at a stall.

Medina told police that he heard an argument between the two occupants in his vehicle and then he heard gunshots.

When Medina returned to the vehicle, he saw Vargas suffering from a gunshot wound.

He took Vargas to the Northern Regional Hospital where he died shortly thereafter.

 

Police investigation continues.
