Belize City Council congratulates Councillor Kaya Cattouse on being first woman councillor to hold the sanitation portfolio

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Belize City Council has congratulated Councillor Kaya Cattouse on being the first woman councillor in Belize City to hold the sanitation portfolio.

The BCC said the sanitation portfolio is one of the largest and most intensive portfolios at City Hall.

“Councillor Cattouse is one of our Council’s dynamic women leaders and has exemplified the values of service, integrity, and tenacity,” said the BCC.

“Women empowerment continues as our females continue to hone their roles as leaders in a growing, progressive, and dynamic municipality.”

The BCC said it’s an honour to witness this time in Caribbean political history when women are given the opportunity to take on great responsibilities and succeed.

“We have no doubt that Councillor Cattouse will execute her new responsibilities to the satisfaction of our City’s residents and stakeholders,” added the BCC.

Apart from her responsibilities at BCC, Cattouse continues with her work at the National Sports Council where she has concentrated on programs for the youth of Belize City. Plus, she continues as well with her cycling career which has catapulted her into the spotlight as the most recognized woman cyclist in the country. She recently signed for an international team, the LA Sweat.
