Smith is accused of attempting to shoot Corey Sebastian on Castle Street on Sunday, January 24, chasing him into the home of a businessman who has fired his licensed weapon before, killing a man in self-defense. He did so again on Sunday, wounding Smith multiple times and landing him in hospital.
Smith pleaded not guilty before Chief Magistrate Ann-Marie Smith and was remanded until March 29, 2016.
But according to his older brother, Brandon Smith, who was present in court, Sebastian has indicated he does not want court action.
The Chief Magistrate advised that Sebastian must go and visit the police station and make a further report in writing to the police informing them of that if that is what he wants.
When Brandon Smith then asked if that mean all this will go away for his brother, the Chief Magistrate said she could not guarantee him that it would, but that is the procedure the person must take.
Smith had been under police guard since Sunday and he was discharged earlier this week after receiving treatment for his shooting injuries.
