UDP chooses candidate in Toledo East

Former Minister and area representative for Toledo East Peter Eden Martinez will get another change to contest the seat in the next general elections.

That is because Mr. Martinez successfully contested a constituency convention for the United Democratic Party (UDP) in the Toledo East on Sunday.

Voting began at 10 am at the PG Sports Complex and after the poll closed at 5 pm and the counting of the ballots was over, it was clear that Martinez was the choice of the UDP faithful in Toledo East.

Martinez garnered 1,311 votes, while his challenger in the convention Heston Wagner received 390 votes.

The official figures show that a total of 1,714 persons voted in Sunday’s convention.

13 ballots were rejected.
