TIDE summer camp wraps up in Toledo district

Saturday, July 12, 2014. JUAN CAAL Reporting: Hundreds of children from the Toledo district took part in the 2014 summer camp sponsored by the Toledo Institute for Development and the Environment, TIDE.

It is the biggest summer camp in the southern part of the country, and this year there were 6 different camp sites, including Punta Negra, Trio, Bella Vista, Monkey River, Big Falls and Punta Gorda town.

According to camp coordinator Giselle Mahung, this year’s camp at the various sites involved outdoor activities and gave the participants  some exposure to ecology lessons and information on protected areas in Belize.

It also gave the boys and girls a chance to interact with each other and build their social and collaborating skills.

The TIDE summer camp ended on Friday, July 11.
