generic-shooting-graphicBy Dalila Ical: 30-year-old Belizean university student, Garfield Dennison, was shot Thursday night in Cummingslodge, East Coast Demerara, Guyana.

According to press reports from that country, Dennison had dropped off his girlfriend around 9:30 when a lone gunman walked up to him and fired three shots. Two bullets hit him to the chest and hand and he is listed at the Georgetown Hospital in a critical condition.

Reports indicate that doctors were “battling to save the life of a Belizean national”.

Dennison is in Guyana attending the University of Guyana. His girlfriend is reportedly also a student at that university.

Guyana police have ruled out robbery as a motive for the attack since nothing was taken from Dennison after he was shot.
