Posted: Thursday, February 11, 2016. 6:08 pm CST.

BBN Staff: A press release from the Belize Progressive Party (BPP) on the matter of Social Security Board’s (SSB)  $12 million loan to Santander Farms, which is currently in its publication stage, states BPP logothat the party recognizes the importance of investing wisely for maximum returns and is in full support of providing affordable financing for the productive sector.

However, it goes on to call for full disclosure on the performance of all SSB loan and investment portfolios on a quarterly basis, as is the standard practice by lending institutions, since it is the people’s trust fund that is being invested.

It also calls on the SBB to provide full disclosure on this particular loan that is being given to Santander Farms and states that in respecting the people’s right to know how their money is being invested, it is most important that they know how those investments are performing on a timely basis.
