Two Guatemalans murdered in suspected drug deal gone bad

By BBN Staff: The lifeless bodies of two Guatemalan nationals were found between miles 69 and 70 in the San Francisco road area of Cayo District, off the George Price Highway yesterday afternoon.
Police arrived on the scene shortly after 2:00 p.m., where they saw two Hispanic males lying face down on the farm road with gunshot wounds to the back of their heads and three expended .9 millimeter Luger shells.
Also found on the scene was a broken Guatemalan identification card which belonged to Santos Ramon Gonzalez Gomez, a 52-year-old resident of Melchor de Mencos, Peten and the other man was later identified to be Orlando Antonio Garcia Calletal, a 37-year-old resident of Barrio La Torre Melchor.
An additional expended shell along with two slugs were found underneath the bodies and a 25 kilogram scale was seen near the bodies, assumed to have been used to weigh drugs.
Both bodies were taken to the San Ignacio Community Hospital where they now await post mortem examinations.
The Guatemalan consul was informed of the incident and as police investigations continue, the motive for theses execution style murders is believed to be drug related.
