By BBN Staff: According to reports, a man was travelling in his Hilux pick up truck this afternoon heading to Bullet Tree Village through the Calla Creek road in the Cayo District when he encountered several big stones blocking the road.

The man exited his vehicle to remove the stones and that was when two armed men came out of the bushes and attacked him.

The driver managed to escape and the culprits proceeded to drive off with the vehicle.

The man contacted his family in Bullet Tree Village and they (family members) along with the Special Patrol Unit drove to the location in search of the culprits.

The police and the family members encountered the Hilux pick up truck and the two armed men and shortly thereafter, the two Guatemalan men exchanged fire with the Special Patrol Unit resulting in one of the Guatemalan man being killed while the other was shot and is currently being treated at the San Ignacio Hospital.

Police are investigating.
