By BBN Staff: The Ministry of Health reports that there is an increase in the number of reported conjunctivitis cases (more commonly known as “pink eye”), particularly in the northern and central health regions.
Conjunctivitis is an irritation of the eye, which is very uncomfortable, caused by bacteria or viruses which can spread easily from person to person.

To mitigate the spreading of conjunctivitis, the following precautionary steps may be taken:
The Ministry encourages persons experiencing the above symptoms, and those who believe they have been exposed to conjunctivitis, to seek medical attention at their nearest health facility.
The public is advised to limit physical contact with anyone who is suspected of having conjunctivitis due to the highly contagious nature of the infection.
