By BBN Staff: Belizeans are highly anticipating the results of the national referendum held today.
Polls opened at 7:00 a.m. and closed at 6:00 p.m. today.
Belizeans participated on deciding whether or not to take Guatemala’s claim on Belize’s land, insular and maritime territory to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for final settlement.
The Elections and Boundaries Department were providing live online updates on their website through the day.
According to their statistics, 64.91% of Belizeans participated in this national referendum.
Ballots are at this time being counted at the respective electoral divisions.
Official results of the ‘Yes’ and ‘No’ to the ICJ votes will be given by Chief Elections Officer, Josephine Tamai in Belize City.
