By Aaron Humes: U.S. Southern Command (SouthCom) Commander Admiral (Adm.) Craig Faller, United States Navy, has begun a three-day visit to Belize, meeting with civilian and military leaders to discuss bilateral security cooperation.

A release from the U.S. Embassy says Adm. Faller will meet with Prime Minister Dean Barrow and other senior government officials. Previous commanders to visit Belize include Admiral Kurt Tidd (2016) and General John Kelly (2013).

Adm. Faller has been in charge since November, 2018 and has responsibility for the U.S. defense cooperation with territories across Central and South America and the Caribbean, and has been visiting these countries to hear their ideas and reassure of the U.S.’s commitment to them.

In the case of Belize, our close security cooperation with the U.S. includes research and development, information exchanges, training and education, joint military exercises, and commercial initiatives related to defense matters.
