Chester Willians: Curfew remains in effect

By BBN Staff: Earlier this month, Commissioner of Police, re-instituted a curfew for children in Belize City.

Today the press asked for a comment on the success of that curfew.

Williams indicated that in several instances, children were found unsupervised on the street during the curfew hours.

They were then taken home and their guardians were provided with a warning.

Williams said that he has formed a ‘curfew crew’, which patrols the entire city looking for unsupervised children.

He says that the curfew is a serious measure, which will be seriously enforced.

However, he did indicate that discretion must be applied to some extent before charging parents.
