Belize Youth Movement (BYM) launches petition

Posted: Thursday, October 10, 2019. 12:59 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: The Belize Youth Movement (BYM) has launched an online petition to demand that the Government of Belize write off up to $40,000 off from all Belizean student loans owed to any and all financial institutions in Belize.

This is in response to the Government of Belize’s controversial decision to write off a $40,000 student loan from Joshua Perdomo, the son of the Cabinet Secretary.

The motion was presented in the House of Representatives last week Friday to which all present cabinet ministers publicly voted Yes for the write off.

The BYM says that, “what is good for one is good for all.”
