Authorities investigate shooting incident in San Jose Palmar

By BBN Staff: Authorities are investigating a shooting incident that occurred last night in San Jose Palmar, Orange Walk.

Police reports indicate that around 6:20 p.m., taxi driver Ricardo Uk was driving his white taxi and was accompanied by a customer when a black SUV overtook the vehicle near the football field.

The black SUV stopped directly in front of them and a masked man exited the vehicle armed with a gun.

The masked man walked toward the taxi and demanded that Uk exited his vehicle.

A struggle ensued during which the culprit shot Uk, and fled the scene in Uk’s vehicle.

 Uk was transported to the hospital where he remains hospitalized in a stable condition.
