By BBN Staff: On Monday, a photo went viral of the UDP Rene Montero Cayo Central campaign team assembled at the Santa Elena Sports Complex.
Shortly after, several Belizeans on social media began questioning the breach of social distancing and face mask regulations.
Plus TV’s Louis Wade posted the photo and Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams commented that he directed the Officer Commanding San Ignacio Police, Henry Jemmott to address the matter.
“ Upon hearing of that gathering yesterday, I directed that it be dealt with swiftly and the OC in San Ignacio did address it. Albeit not the way I had expected it to. I agree with all that the political parties need to lead by example,” Williams stated.
He added that it is difficult to be ‘running’ behind adults like children to get them to do what they know they should.
“Nonetheless we will keep monitoring the political climate with a view to adequately address any breach that they may commit,” he added.
