By Aaron Humes: Leader of the Opposition Patrick Faber had indicated from the start of his term that Senator Aldo Salazar would be stepping aside after a period to make way for then-Belmopan Mayor Khalid Belisle, who was his choice for senator.
Belisle wanted to serve out his term as Mayor before taking on the role as a senator.
This week, Faber wrote to Acting Governor General Stuart Leslie announcing that Salazar had now stepped down and that Belisle would be nominated to fill the seat.
Commenting on the transition Faber said, “I once again take the opportunity to thank Senator Aldo Salazar for his outstanding work as Senator and congratulate the incoming Senator Khalid Belisle.”
