Vehicle purchase turns shooting incident in Belize City

Posted: Monday, September 6, 2021. 10:23 am CST.

By BBN Staff: A man and a woman trying to pick up a vehicle in Belize City yesterday ended up running for their lives from gunfire, police say.

Tamika Patrice, 38, told police that she and Gyang Staine, 30, visited an address on Hunter’s Lane to pick up a vehicle that she had bought for $3,800 from Francisco Rodriquez.

While they were making checks on the vehicle, a man came from the direction of Wilson Street, pulled out a gun, and opened fire on them. Patrice said they ran for their lives and that’s when Rodriguez and the gunman jumped into the vehicle and drove off in the direction of Barrack Road.

Police are investigating.
