One remanded to prison for murder of Geoffrey Crawford

By BBN Staff: One man has been charged and remanded to prison for last week’s murder of Geoffrey Crawford, 69, from Crooked Tree.

Maurice Eslyn Usher Jr., 40, of a Taylor’s Alley address was arrested, charged, and arraigned in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court before Senior Magistrate Tricia Pitts on a single count of murder. Due to the nature of the offense, no plea was taken and Usher was remanded to prison until December 6, 2021, for his next court appearance.

Crawford went missing from his home last Wednesday after he was assaulted there by two men who then stole his truck to escape and took him. The perpetrators allegedly needed the help of a passerby to jump-start the vehicle who then noticed Crawford and alerted authorities.

The next day cops found his vehicle and his body on private property in Biscayne village. A day later, police made an arrest in the case.
