Access road to Ranchito (Corozal) Airstrip upgraded

Posted: Monday, January 31, 2022. 3:01 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: As of this past Friday the road to the Corozal District’s primary aerodrome, the Ranchito Airstrip outside of Corozal Town, has been successfully upgraded.

The new access road features: a double-coat chip-and-seal pavement; proper drainage system; road medians; additional parking stalls; proper signage; extended apron; and additional security perimeter fencing. It is intended to enhance the passenger experience to and from the airstrip as well as benefit the residents of Ranchito Village, Corozal, and neighboring communities.

Minister of Civil Aviation Andre Perez said at the inauguration, “This Ranchito Airstrip is an important icon in the north of our country. It is an aerodrome that links Corozal with parts of our country through safe and efficient transportation … As we await the opening of our borders with our Mexican friends in the north, we know that there will be even more activity here.”

The Ministry of Civil Aviation and Belize Airports Authority (BAA) thanks all involved in the completion of this important milestone project.
