Four leading seven in Holy Saturday Cross Country Cycling Classic

Posted: Saturday, April 16, 2022. 9:56 am CST.

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Four men up front after dropping Shaun Codd of Team G-Flow on the way back before Blackman Eddy by the Spanish Lookout Junction in the Holy Saturday Cross Country Cycling Classic.

By Mile 49 on Western Highway at 9:35 am, FAL’s Marlon Castillo, Westrac Alliance’s Byron Pope, Anguillan Hasani Hennis, and American John DeLong were up front six minutes ahead of the chase group.

The seven behind were trying to catch up with Codd and the front four.

The seven include G-Flow’s Giovanni Lovell, Road Rage’s Richard Santiago, 501 Valvoline’s  Oscar Quiroz and Joslyn Chavarria, Barbadian Joshua Kelly, Guatemalan Julio Padilla, and unattached Nashen Ysaguirre.

The peloton was some 7:20 behind.

There were concerns due to an accident around Mile 41 but the rad was cleared by the time the riders got to that point. Two cargo trucks had crashed. One was strewn on the side of the road but the other that was obstructing the highway had to be removed.
