Coast Guard officer Alberto Espinoza, is wanted by police for stabbing his stepdaughter among other offenses

By Benjamin Flowers: Police have issued a warrant for the arrest of 34-year- old Coast Guard officer Alberto Espinoza, for stabbing his stepdaughter Daxia Martinez and a number of other offenses.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Fitzroy Yearwood, head of communications for the office of the Commissioner of Police, explained that the complainant, 18-year-old Trial Farm Village resident Daxia Martinez, was cut to the face and stabbed to the body shortly after 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Martinez was taken to the Northern Regional Hospital for treatment. She told investigators that she and Espinoza had gotten into an altercation when he attacked her with the knife and inflicted her injuries.

“We have other reports in connection with this same Alberto Espinoza, and by all means, we will continue to look for him until he either comes and hands in himself or we will find him where charges will be levied against him,” Yearwood. said. “I know that investigators are investigating two other incidents believed to be committed by him before this recent one on Wednesday, and I know that they are looking for him for some other traffic infractions.”

Yearwood said that police have been in contact with Espinoza’s superior officers at the Belize CoastGuard, and are also asking the public to report it if they have knowledge of his whereabouts.
