Man granted bail after allegedly assaulting his wife

By BBN Staff: A Belize City man accused of assaulting his wife during an argument is out on bail.

Roduel Tzul, 26, appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court charged with common assault against his 23-year-old wife.

His wife reported to police that on Monday, June 20, they were at home when he became violent and pushed her several times injuring her.

In court, Tzul pleaded not guilty and stressed that he would never beat his wife. He further said that there was an altercation started by his wife while they were watching TV, but he never moved to make physical contact at that time.

There was no objection to bail and it was granted to him in the sum of $600 plus one surety of the same. Since the two live together, Tzul’s bail came with the condition that he is not to engage in any sort of abusive behavior with his wife while out on bail or he will be sent to jail.
