By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Great work by Lionel Messi up the right wing cutting into the box, beating Josko Gvardiol twice, passing the ball to Julián Álvarez between Gvardiol’s legs, set up the third Argentina goal in the 69^th minute.

After a rough 30 minutes, Argentina found their way through the Croatian defense and now lead 3-0 in the first Semifinal at the Lusail Stadium in Al Daayen.

For Álvarez that’s his fourth goal of the tournament.

In the 32^nd minute, Croatian goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic fouled Álvarez as he cut into the penalty area. Italian referee Daniele Orsato awarded Argentina a penalty kick and yellow carded both Livakovic and Kovacic.

Messi stepped up in the 34^th minute, blasted a powerful shot past Livakovic. The keeper guessed right but the shot was too strong.

That’s Messi’s 5^th goal in the World Cup.

Then in the 39^th minute, Álvarez worked his way through the defence and hammered the second goal for the 2-0 lead.

Argentina are a few minutes away from booking a ticket for the Finals against either Morocco or defending champions France who play the second Semifinal on Wednesday.
