Ministry of Economic Development: ’28 BPO’s employ 8,000 employees countrywide’

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today, the Ministry of Economic Development launched the Plan Belize medium-term development strategy.

With regards to growth and employment, Lincoln Blake, Director of Investment in the Ministry of Economic Development and Investment said that there are 28 Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) countrywide with 8,000 employees.

In addition, 8 of those companies are projected to grow by 4,000 employees this year.

Blake also said that international media reported that Belize is expected to be one of the top destinations in 2023.

“The industrial sector like manufacturing is also important, agro-processing. The blue and green economy has a significant amount of support. We have to establish those policies and they have to be in tandem with our international commitments. But we have a significant amount of opportunities there,” he added.
