Vehicle burns in San Pedro and causes damage to home

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Toyota Rav-4 was destroyed by fire in the early hours of Sunday morning on the island of Ambergris Caye, causing damage to the house under which it was parked.

According to police, Aida Nunez and her son, who reside at a Coco Plum Drive address on the island, were awakened by a neighbour who noticed their vehicle was on fire. The car was parked underneath their house, which is elevated about 12 feet from the ground.

Fire personnel responded and extinguished the fire; however, the vehicle was completely destroyed and the house received minor damage. The car was valued at $30,000.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.
