Jeremy Westby, 18, still missing after a week

By Aaron Humes: Today, Tuesday, makes a full week since Jeremy Westby, 18, was last seen.

On December 5 around 6:30 in the evening, he left home to visit a friend nearby.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Hilberto Romero shared further details during Monday’s press briefing: “On Wednesday, December 6th, 2023, Everette Geban made a missing person report. She reported that she had not seen her son from the previous week. Information is that he went to buy something and then he went missing. Several searches have been done and we continue to follow several leads and so far he has not been found. We have one person of interest that we are looking for who we believe may have some information regarding this missing person.”

Westby stands five feet, ten inches tall, has dread-like hair, and was last seen wearing a black and white Hollister shirt.

Commissioner of Police Chester Williams cautioned that despite his mother’s worries and insistence that her son would not leave her worrying this long, nothing is suggesting Westby is not still alive: “I know that when it comes to Westby I believe just yesterday or even this morning police had responded to information that was suggesting that his body may be in certain areas. I don’t know why people are that far already. While yes we understand the time we are living in we are still hopeful that Mr Westby is alive and that [he] will be found alive but I want to appeal to the family and anybody that if they have information pertinent to the whereabouts of Mr Westby to please feel free to contact us. Once we get the information we will respond to the information.”

He also noted that due to human resource constraints, searches for missing persons are conducted most intensely in the first 48 hours to 4 days after the first report, but police remain on standby for information in relation to any case.
