Police: Man dies after being knocked down by ambulance in Southern Belize

BBN Staff: A road traffic accident last night claimed the life of a man from Toledo.

Around 9:03 pm, police responded to the scene of a traffic accident between miles 43 and 44 on the Southern Highway.

There, police saw an ambulance with its front portion damaged and the body of a man on the highway.

The victim was identified as Francisco Rash,22.

The ambulance was being driven at the time by Manuelito Garcia,29.

Garcia reported that he was driving the ambulance traveling from the direction of San Isidro to Bella Vista Village and upon reaching between miles 43-44, he allegedly hit Rash who was walking in the opposite direction.

Rash succumbed to his injuries.

Police are investigating.
