By BBN Staff: This morning just around 8:00 a.m., a vehicle plunged into the Belize River near the Swing Bridge in Belize City.

Two women were trapped inside the red SUV and a good Samaritan dashed into the water to save them. With additional assistance, they were able to save the 2 women from danger and to safety. However, the good Samaritan lost his wallet and house keys in the process of saving the women.

The driver of the vehicle lost control after the brakes malfunctioned. The vehicle could not take the curve to enter the swing bridge. It crashed into a motorcycle and knocked down a nearby tacos stall before plunging into the river.

The man who risked his life to save them all is being celebrated as a local hero. He is a local fisherman by the name of Herman Williams.
