Over 21 dump trucks full of garbage taken from Albert Street Community in Belize City

By BBN Staff: Today, the Belize City Council in collaboration with the Water Walkers Boys and Girls Club and the People’s United Party’s Albert Division Office, held a joint project to clean up Simmons Alley, which is off Albert Street in Belize City.

According to Thompson, the Sanitation Manager for the City Council, the cleanup was a part of a larger project that started back in December of 2019, where the council hired some 150 people to do clean ups in areas over the city that were identified by the council.

“The young men and women of the Jump Street Areas wanted to see the area cleaned so they could engage in economic activity. What they want to do is start a car wash initiative out here, so we decided to help out that initiative by cleaning up this area that will be allocated or designated for this initiative,” Thompson said.

He added that cleaning up the area will serve to help uplift the people in the area giving them a better environment to live and raise their children in.

The Initiative saw the removal of over 21 dump trucks full of garbage.
