Prison CEO: Carlos Montejo and Jose Guerra were the masterminds behind the prison break

By BBN Staff: Virgilio Murillo, Chief Executive Officer of the Kolbe Foundation, the company that manages the Belize Central Prison, says that authorities have identified the two inmates responsible for the daring prison break yesterday, which saw the escape of almost 30 prisoners.

At a press conference held at the prison today, Murillo said that they have identified Carlos Montejo and Jose Guerra as the masterminds behind the prison break.Murillo said that the men later enlisted the assistance of another man, Joel Sierra, to aid in their escape.

During the escape, three prison guards were handcuffed, thrown into a prison cell, and held hostage for over five hours, until the inmates made their escape after sunset.

One inmate has already been captured, leaving another 27 still on the run.

Police searches are ongoing.
