Prime Minister John Briceño to meet with social partners to address fuel prices

By Aaron Humes: Promising relief, Prime Minister John Briceño said he would be meeting on Wednesday with members of the social partners and productive sector, seeking a way out on fuel prices.

He revealed that government once again absorbed up to $400,000 in recent fuel hikes of diesel and premium gasoline, though prices have gone above $13 a gallon.

And he reiterated that much of the situation is outside of Belize’s control – the base price of oil is unstable as a result of the Russian product being frozen out by major nations and other sources of production slowly ramping up, including Venezuela, which has held preliminary talks with the U.S. on their contribution.
