Prime Minister John Briceño excoriates Coffee Caye “Islandia” stunt

By Aaron Humes: Belize does not recognize the so-called “Principality of Islandia” – the former Coffee Caye, according to Prime Minister John Briceño.

In fiery remarks to reporters, he denounced the idea as “stupid” and its creators for pushing “misleading advertising.”

As we previously reported, a firm has been advertising shares in the island as akin to having a piece of your own country.

But the Prime Minister did not mince words, saying that no one can claim any part of Belize for their own that they have no right to.
