Muhammad Ali’s grandson improves pro record to 5-0 with first-round knockout

Posted: Tuesday, May 3, 2022. 10:13 am CST.

By BBN Staff: Nico Ali Walsh, the 21-year-old grandson of boxing legend Muhammad Ali, improved his own professional boxing record to 5-0 over the weekend with a stunning first-round knockout of Alejandro Ibarra in Las Vegas on Saturday night.

Walsh fought on the undercard of the Shakur Stevenson vs. Oscar Valdez fight which took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Walsh entered the ring to chants of “Ali” from the crowd and delivered a left-right combination that ended with a knockout win.

Walsh celebrated in style and proclaimed he was bringing his late grandfather “back to life” as chants of “Ali” roared from the crowd.

Walsh, who fights in the middleweight division, made his professional debut in August 2021 when he defeated Jordan Weeks with another first-round knockout. Four of his 5 victories have been either by knockout or TKO. Walsh, a Chicago native, works with current WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury’s trainer, Sugarhill Steward.

Muhammad Ali, meanwhile, is still considered by many to be among the greatest boxers of all time and Walsh has vowed to continue the legacy of boxing and the Ali name.
